Urine volume is the total amount of urine your body produces over a given time period, typically measured over 24 hours. It reflects how well your kidneys are balancing fluid and waste removal.

The normal range for adults is 800 to 2,000 milliliters per day with a normal fluid intake of about 2 liters per day. Output naturally varies based on how much you drink, your activity level, and environmental factors like heat and humidity.

When urine volume falls below 400 mL per day, it is called oliguria. Output exceeding 3 liters per day is called polyuria. Both can indicate underlying health conditions that need evaluation.

Urine is produced by the kidneys, which filter blood to remove waste products and excess fluid. The filtered fluid travels through the ureters to the bladder, where it is stored before being eliminated through urination.
